Hi Sally Ann
Rents having been creeping up of late and the competition is fierce. There are plenty of areas close to pub transport and close to the city to live - Bowen Hills, the Valley, Toowong, Taringa, Spring Hill, West End, New Farm, AuchenFlower, Milton, Kelvin Grove, Highgate Hill etc. Be prepared to pay 4 weeks bond and sign a 12 month lease. You'll also need references. When going to open inspections, i suggest you dress professionally - first impressions and all that.

Good luck!   Smiley

Hey,
I have just done the same thing.  If you are looking to rent something by yourself and something close to the city you would be looking around the $200 mark as a rough starting point.  If you look for a room in a shared house or apartment you may (if you are incredibly lucky) find something from about $100.  On average for close to the city you will probably be looking at $160+.  Check out websites like Gumtree if you want options other than a real estate agent.
