Hi,
I'm moving to Brisbane from Texas to get married and a little down the road raise a family. We are looking for a place to rent (house or apt) and prefer somewhere near her parents (Capalaba) but are looking at all options and cost. I am restricted to around $300 a week, but I am trying to avoid rundown or areas with more crime.

Thanks,
danielson

Hi Danielon

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

You should be ok anywhere in the Eastern Suburbs (Capalaba is an Eastern Suburb). The higher crime areas tend to be in the south, southwest suburbs of Brisbane. Alot of the bayside suburbs are being revamped so you'll prbably see a mix of old and new in the area. Take a look at http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?s=qld&t=ren&snf=rbs&a=sf for an idea of rental prices....is that AUD$300 or USD$300?

Cheers and Good Luck!
