Maybe you could look into buying a business. Brisbane is a pretty good place to be in business it is big enough to have a decent market for most products and services yet not so big that its swamped with competition. At least that's how it seems to me. There are a heap of business brokers that specialise in the Brisbane or Queensland market. Or you can look on-line at Seek or maybe in The Courier Mail.

Hi RC

Re: your question on jobs for Electricians in Brisbane. I amnot an expert in this are but did a quick search on MyCareer http://mycareer.com.au/employment/brisbane/trades/electrician-jobs. As you can see, there quite a few jobs available and the salaries are VERY good ($60-$80k or more!).

I would imagine this is makes it affordable to rent and support a family with 2 children (depending of course on your life style). Rental vary greatly depending on where you're looking to move but you should be able to find at least a 3 bedroom house for under $500 per week in a nice area.

I hope this helps & good luck with your move!

Cheers

Heidi

Hi!
My boyfriend is moving to Brisbane from Sweden to work for a company that sells computer program for structual engineers, contractors and fabricators in the building construction business.

He has been working as a constructional design engineer at a consultant firm for four years. His new job tasks will be customer training and support and maybe some sales.

What do you think would be an appropriate salary for him?

Regards,
Kristin and Oskar
